Bronx Fellowship is a network of basic Christian communities.  Sometimes these type of groups may be called house churches; however, each group may gather in a home, an office, a diner, or any meeting place that fits with that particular group.  Because these gatherings take place in small groups, we are able to discuss the Bible, ask questions, pray for one another, eat together, and various other activities.  Meetings are kept simple, and the atmosphere is often casual.  We recognize that just as life is sometimes “messy,” God also works in our “messiness,” and as an effort to follow Jesus’ teachings, we recognize that God works powerfully through one another. 

Nearly all New Testament scholars agree that the first Christians met almost entirely in homes.†   Today, simple gatherings meeting mostly in homes continue to have an impact on real lives in the city.  Bible teaching often involves group discussion and each individual is welcome to participate.  Groups develop organically.  While each group is unique, they often share a meal together, pray for one another, and make decisions as a community. 

If you would like to participate in a simple experience of church, you have options.  First, you may find that God wants to work in your life to start a new group.   As you bring together some of your friends, family, and neighbors, one of our leaders may provide guidance throughout the process.  You may want to meet in a home, a local diner, in or near a workplace, or other practical location.  The group should meet wherever is most relevant for the new group.  Faith grows wherever life is already happening.

Second, you may want to connect with a faith community that is already meeting.  Groups meet in various times and places.  Some groups meet as house churches whose members represent years of Christian faith, while some of our groups are new and may involve mostly seekers exploring faith for the first time.  Our church network is reaching out in the Bronx, Harlem, Jersey City, and may communicate in English, Spanish, or whatever language(s) is most natural to the group.  In some cases, a group is well-established while some areas represent brand new outreach.
