Honoring God by bringing people together and discovering the love of Christ.

Do you want God without all the religion?  So do we.  That is why we follow Jesus.  Jesus didn’t come to establish a new religion.  He really didn’t!  Jesus came to lead us to God.  He came to show us true reality.  When He initiated His first community of followers, Jesus taught them to imitate Him.  Today, the participants in Bronx Fellowship strive to do the same.  While we honor and learn from the many Christian traditions that have existed throughout the history of Christianity, we ultimately allow the Bible to have authority that shapes our ministry rather than simply following religious traditions or common assumptions.  Like those first followers of Jesus, our lives are being transformed.  If one encounters Bronx Fellowship, they will find ordinary people seeking after God.  Some are just beginning to learn about His love and mercy.  Others have followed Jesus for many years.  Still others are in a process of returning to their relationship with the God they once knew.  No matter where they’re at, everyone continues to learn.

Bronx Fellowship is a network of basic Christian communities.  These communities are often called house churches; however, each group may gather in a home, a park, a diner, or any meeting place that fits with that particular church.  Because these gatherings take place in small groups, we are able to discuss the Bible, ask questions, pray for one another, eat together, and various other activities.  Meetings are kept simple, and the atmosphere is often casual.  We recognize that just as life is sometimes “messy,” God also works in our “messiness,” and as an effort to follow Jesus’ teachings, we recognize that God works powerfully through one another.  If you want to get to know Jesus, begin reading one of the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) and pray to Him, but one of the best ways to learn about Jesus is to hang out with people who are learning to imitate Him.

Bronx Fellowship meets in house churches in various locations across the Bronx and Westchester County.  As a network, we meet together at different times throughout the year including an Easter assembly, summer cookouts, and a camp retreat.  Each group seeks to be faithful to God as they serve those whom they encounter.  Meeting in house churches nurtures the opportunity for each believer to make their unique contribution.  As a network, Bronx Fellowship shares a common mission to represent Jesus in the Bronx, Westchester County, and beyond.

If you are not a follower of Jesus but would like to learn more about faith in God, we look forward to meeting you.  Perhaps you are new to the city or feel that God is calling you to the kind of mission described in this website.  If so, let us hear from you.  We don’t pretend that we have perfectly accomplished everything, but you are welcome to come along on an exciting journey of learning and growth.
